Gloria Salters

Gloria T. Salters recently retired as a Program Manager with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, Division of Youth Services, where she served as the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) State Coordinator, grants manager, and program developer. She spent more than twenty years working
with the Mississippi Department of Human Services in the Division of Budgets and Accounting and
the Division of Family and Children’s Services in various areas of grants management and program
development. Her many positions included Financial Coordinator, Division Director, and Bureau
Director. Her years with the Division of Family and Children’s Services contributed to her
commitment to serving those youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Prior to
working with the Attorney General’s Office, she worked as a consultant in the Jackson State
University, School of Social Work. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from
Jackson State University. In 2016, to satisfy a long interest, she returned to school to earn an
Associate of Art degree in Medical Billing and Coding from Holmes Community College, where she
was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and a faithful member of St. Therese Catholic Church. She is married
to Paul R. Salters and has one stepdaughter, Shealyn Salters, a proud Jackson State University
graduate.
